Because you're worth it

The advertisment of Loreal keeps reappearing on Star movies to BBC , bombarding on the minds of our women that they deserve nothing less than Loreal makeup and the acceptibility in society wiill increase to manifold after the new cream or rosy lipstick .
Advertisment and marketing as an institution has been reinvented by the west and especially Americans . The amount of expenditure which Americans spend on advertising their products is 10 times more of what enterprenuers spend on the manufactring here in Pakistan . It is remarkable to see that although Pakistani economy is based on capitilism and market plays a key role in the lives of the people . But advertisment and marketing agencies remain far under developed as comapre to that of west in particular America .
Americans through there effecinet and convincing marketing skills are not only able to sell there products in USA but all over the world . Not only that , through these marketing skills they are also able to export there culture and identity in other parts of the world . If we examine carefully , women in this part of the region are far more simpler and fashion ridden as comapre to women in west . A pakistani women has a different identity and appearance altoghter . Yet the Loreal advertisment playing again and again on Star Plus urges her to buy the same products which the charming english speaking American actress is buying .
These marketing skills do well for the capitilist and the Americans who are consistently trying to sell there image and identity along with expensive products all over the world .
Another advertising industry which has a strong hold over Pakistani minds is Indian commercials , Indian advertising and marketing skills have been rated as one of the world's best . There products might not be able to reach Pakistan , but there culture and norms do. Not that cultural exchange through media is harmful but it can be damaging if our own advertising agencies are unable to attract the attention of the public through advertisments and media .
So , what happens in pakistan is a different story altogether . Several products are available in market but are never advertised . When they are advertised , the advertisments lack appeal and wit to catch the attention of the public . Several advertisments are only run on few private channels , which are not so often televised in the whole country . But proper credit should be given to the milk tea, cell phone industry , apparently booming in Pakistan , for producing very eye catching advertisment .Rest of the products are either cheap advertisments or lacking the true Pakistani spirit. The advertisment industry can be very dynamic and culturaly sound if it comes up with advertisments which are more appealing than Indian or American advertisment . Pakistani's advertisment industry needs to put forward there culture and tradition in a very appealing way . Because the truth for a Pakistani women is far more different than an Indian or American , this line " you're worth it " and the over consumption of makeup might not be her reality but she is badly appealed to such a value system, for hers is no where to be seen .
